Works to repair a concrete slab at Ghadira Bay that was damaged by storms earlier this year are scheduled to start next week, a the Malta Tourism Authority said.

Replying to questions by this newspaper, a spokesperson for the MTA said the works will be carried out by the Mellieha local council.

The slab, dislodged earlier this year, has not yet been replaced, with beachgoers complaining about the hazard posed.

Photos sent by residents showed that the area has become filled with seaweed and rubble, which could easily cause injury to any who trip and fall.

PN MP Robert Cutajar had filed a Parliamentary Question about this situation last April, and in response Transport Minister Ian Borg had said that in “the coming weeks,’ Transport Malta will make the necessary repairs. This newsroom is informed that some officials had gone on site and taken some measurements, but the situation has not changed.

The MTA now said that the repairs will be carried out in the coming days.
