‘Salvini thinks he’s Maradona, but he is more like an off-form Higuain’

The differences between the two political parties that make up the Italian government continue to widen with respect to how the migrant situation is being tackled.

While Lega Nord’s Matteo Salvini continues to insist on closing ports and making it difficult for NGOs to operate, his Movimento 5 Stelle (M5S) government colleagues have an altogether different approach to the problem.

And, as one again it was a weekend of controversy with regard to migrants distressed at sea, M5S politicians do not miss a change of taking a dig at Salvini.

In the latest outburst, Manlio Di Stefano, deputy minister of foreign affairs and a prominent M5S exponent, said that the problem is that Salvini thinks he is Maradona but then plays like an off-form Higuain.

Maradona is arguably one of the best evers player to grace the game of football. Higuain had a good history with Napoli and Juventus, but his last season was far from being his best, failing to make an impact with both Milan and Chelsea.
