Another evening of power cuts… Enemalta cites 'abnormal high demand'

Wednesday, 10 July 2019, 07:35 Last update: about 6 years ago

Many people in various areas of Malta are experiencing almost daily power cuts at different times of the day, but particularly in the evening.

On Tuesday night, residents of Zebbug, Balzan, Attard, San Gwann, Zejtun and other localities complained of power cuts - and of having to make do without air conditioners and fans on the hottest evening (so far) of the summer.

It was not the only night without power - there have been other occasions this year when electricity was down and restored some time later.

In a Facebook post, the energy company said customers in various parts of Malta had experienced interruptions to their electricity supply "due to abnormal high demand."

Enemalta said its employees were working to restore services in the shortest possible timeframe. Residents of various localities said that power was restored within a few minutes.
