A 42-year-old Bulgarian man was hospitalised with grievous injuries after the care he was driving crashed into a bus that was stationary at the side of the road.

The accident took place at around 3.55pm in Triq ta' Pennellu, Mellieha, the police said.

The man, who lives in St Paul's Bay, was driving a BMW that hit a Setra Evobus that had broken down and was stationary at the side of the road.

He was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

The police are investigating.
