University of Malta undergraduate Carla Zahra will be attending the Future News Worldwide 2019 conference to be held on 16 and 17 July at the Thomson Reuters UK Headquarters in Canary Wharf, London. Zahra is in her fourth and final year reading for a BCommunications (Hons) degree at the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences.

She will be among 100 budding reporters from around the globe in an initiative organised by the British Council. During the conference, the delegates will be coached by world-leading editors, broadcasters, writers and reporters. Additionally, they will see how publishers are using technology to find stories and bring them to life like never before.

"This is the type of conference that will crown the theoretical and practical work done during our degree course and take it to a new level with coaching from top-drawer writers. Thanks to the British Council for offering up-and-coming reporters such a great opportunity," Zahra said when contacted.

Future News Worldwide identifies, trains and connects the next generation of global journalists in a partnership programme between the British Council and some of the world's leading media organisations including Google News Initiative, Reuters, The Herald, Facebook and STV.

Last's year delegate from Malta was Andrea Rossitto while the year before it was William Crisp. Like Zahra, Rossitto and Crisp come from the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences at the University of Malta.
