Three men are in hospital after the car they were in crashed into an electricity pole in Birkirkara this morning, the police said.

The accident took place in Intornjatur Street at 8am.

The car, a Toyota Vitz, was being driven by a 40-year-old man of Zabbar, who had two passengers with him, a Birkirkara man aged 40 and a man from Santa Venera, aged 24.

The three men suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia is leading an inquiry.
