A man was seriously injured last night when he was hit by a car in Zurrieq, the police said.

The accident took place in Triq il-Barrieri at midnight.

The 70-year-old Zurrieq resident was hit by a Peugeot 308 driven by a 42-year-old woman, also of Zurrieq.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
