Louis Galea reviewing applications for multi-disciplinary team that will guide PN reform

Wednesday, 11 September 2019, 09:43 Last update: about 6 years ago

PN veteran Louis Galea is currently reviewing applications he received from individuals interested in being part of a ‘multi-disciplinary’ group that will guide the reform of the Nationalist Party.

The former minister was tasked with overseeing a major reform of the Nationalist Party by PN Leader Adrian Delia, after the latter comfortably won a vote of confidence back in July. Delia had faced calls for his resignation after the party’s poor showing at the EP and local council elections. He won the vote by 67%.

Galea had said that the reform process would be “informed, inspired and guided by a multi-disciplinary team” under his direction.

“The multi-disciplinary team will be composed of individuals with different skills and abilities, varied work experiences and qualifications to cater for the needs of a multi-disciplinary team. An ability to foster dialogue and discussion with impartiality and objectivity and belief in teamwork and collective responsibility are essential ingredients for the success of the process. Individuals must be able to commit at least five hours per week on a voluntary basis,” Galea had said.

Asked for an update, Galea said he was “very much encouraged by the feedback we got following our call for interest.”

While he did not say how many had applied, Galea said that the “vast majority of the applicants are persons under 35 years of age, with a good third of all applicants being women.”

Many of them come with a professional background, he said, while many others are workers in different services or industries.

“At the moment I am evaluating these applications and will be meeting the group over the next days."
