Kemar Reid was in inspiring form as he led St. Andrew's to a comfortable victory over Fgura in their opening match of the season. It was a fully deserved victory for the saints who gave a very polished display against the newly promoted Fgura side.

St. Andrew's took the lead unexpectedly on twelve minutes, thanks to a classic own goal by Fgura defender Andrew Scicluna who headed incredibly past his own goalkeeper, in an attempt to clear a harmless header by fellow defender Gandini.

Fgura had a golden opportunity to level matters on the half hours but Spanish player Alejandro Toncheff did the impossible and shot wide with only Formosa to beat.

Seven minutes into the second half St.Andrew's scored the second goal, a well taken goal after a great move between Vesalji and Reid, and finished by Luke Anthony Borg. Fifteen minutes from time the Saints scored a third goal with an impressive Kemar Reid run who dribbled past the goalkeeper before finishing off in style.

Referee: Andrea Sciriha

Scorer: Nicholas Pisani 55'

A header from Nicholas Pisani ten minutes into the second half proved to be enough for Pieta to chalk their first vistory of the season in the inaugural match of the First Division season.

Pieta were worthy winners over an mqabba who left it late to forca a rally to try and save tjhe match. Pieta had more of the ball and showed the better football, even though attempts at goal, from both ends were very scarce.

The all important winner came from a corner action with Gauci heading towards Pisani who headed home from close range. Pieta were unlucky not to double the score on 72 minutes when another Pisani header smashed against the crossbar.
