Round 1 of the Gozo Motocross Championship 2020

The Gozo Motorcross Association organised its first round of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship 2019/20 with Gozitan and Maltese riders participating in one of the most challenging and toughest racing ever seen at Ta' Xħajma Track.

Races started at 1pm and the afternoon proved to be an extremely enjoyable experience both for riders and spectators alike.

The association welcomes new and young riders ChrisTyler Mizzi and Mark Camilleri. both 15 years old, while Maltese rider Damien Tonna has also joined our association for this season's racing.

In Class A , Steve Xuereb managed to achieve maximum points. He was followed by Glenn Vella, current champion 2019 in Class B and Class A champion '19 David Dimech respectively.

In Category B,  James Zahra came in first, Robert Spiteri came in second place while Jorn Stellini, also Champion in class C and who was promoted to Class B. managed to come in third.

GMA welcomes back Matthew Zammit who won first place in Class C. He was followed by Arthur Micallef who won over Isaac Bartolo by a single point..

Unfortunately, champion '19 in Class D, David Mercieca, decided to skip this season. Michael Sant won first place. Jurgen Attard came in second while Steve Cassar won third place. Female rider, Nicole Cutajar, also raced in Class D

The second round of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship will take place on the 10th of November 2018. New riders are always welcome.

Meanwhile, during the weekend of 2nd and 3rd November 2019, GMA in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo will continue the second part of the sport twinning between Gozo and Sicily. Back in 2018, twelve Gozitan riders achieved positive results in Frankavilla Track, Sicily. At Ta Xhajma Motocross track, the riders will be able to do a whole day of training on Saturday 3rd and the competitions will take place on Sunday 4th. Races will start at 1pm.
