Mosta scored a last minute goal through Momodou Jallow to grab a second consecutive win. The match against Santa Lucia never came to life with the Saints considering themselves unlucky not to have taken at least a point from this match.

This was a match between two teams who are languishing in the mid-table position. Santa Lucia had a very good start to this campaign with two wins and two draws. In their last encounter they were held by Senglea.

Gabriel Bohrer Mentz was missing for Santa Lucia through suspension.

On the other hand Mosta after losing three from four matches returned to winning ways when in their last outing they defeated Hamrun Spartans by two goals to nil.

Ten minutes had elapsed and Santa Lucia went near to break the deadlock. Mendoza played a one two with Segura with the latter finding Santana but with only Vella to beat saw the Mosta goalkeeper block his effort.

Play was restricted to the midfield sector for long stretches and it was only nearing the end of the first half that the Saints went near once again. It was on 36 minutes when an acute shot by Segura sailed just over the bar.

Two minutes later and on the other end Mosta could have drawn first blood when Jallow came face to face with Caruana but the Saints custodian blocked his effort.

And with time ticking away for the end of the first half Mosta once again on the offensive with goalkeeper Caruana being on the alert to save Morisco's free kick.

In the second half Santa Lucia were the first to venture forward when a long distance shot by Ante Rosero just missed the target. And in the 72nd minute a solo run by David Mendoza was finished off with a beautiful shot from the edge of the area which was blocked by Vella.

The Saints were now increasing their tempo and fifteen minutes from the end of the match a low drive by Ante Rosero just scraped the upright. On 80 minutes a Daniel Agius cross shot nearly deceived goalkeeper Vella who had to stretch at full length to palm the ball away.

A minute from the end of the match Mosta scored the all important goal. Weverton Gomes broke on the right flank and sent a perfect cross towards Momodou Jallow who rose high above friend and foe and headed the ball into the corner of the net.

Senglea failed and didn't have time to react to this late setback.
