The death has been announced of Charles Borg, known as is-Sunnara.

He was the driver of former President and Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami.

In one famous photo (below), he is seen behind Eddie Fenech Adami at Tal-Barrani, on the day when the Nationalist Party was prohibited from holding a mass meeting in Zejtun.

That day, thousands of PN supporters had flocked to the area and had been attacked by the police and Labour party thugs.

In announcing his death, Beppe Fenech Adami thanked Borg for “walking all the way with us. Today, we have lost one of the family”.

The Malta Racing Club paid its respects to Borg, a leading horse owner and jockey for many years.

The funeral will take place at St Helen's parish church, Birkirkara, on Thursday at 8.30am.
