Don’t’ blame the President, blame the Constitution – Bartolo

Saturday, 7 December 2019, 06:45 Last update: about 5 years ago

It is unjust and incorrect to blame the President, urging him to do more in the current political crisis, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo said.

Writing on Facebook, Bartolo said that President George Vella is doing all he can and all that the Constitution permits him to do.

It is the Constitution which has its shortcomings and needs to be changed when the Second Republic is born, Bartolo said.

There is a need for a better distribution of powers to create  balance between the institutions, including those enjoyed by the President and the Prime Minister., Bartolo said.
