Birkirkara ladies won the BOV Women's Super Cup by easily beating Mgarr United 5-0 in a one-sided take all match at the National Stadium, mainly thanks to a Loza Abera second half hat-trick which completely shattered any trophy chances Mgarr were hoping of.

The Stripes thoroughly deserved the win, dominating most of the match to go on and win the trophy for the fifth time in their history.  Ethiopia forward Abera, always a constant threat to the Mgarr rearguard, was the hero of the night for the Stripes.  Her second-half hat-trick meant that Abera has now already notched up 20 goals this season for Birkirkara.

Mgarr again disappointed when it mattered most. Haley Bugeja looked sharp in the first half until the winners stamped their authority on the match. With Esther Anu also combining well with Abera for Birkirkara, it all seemed so difficult for Mgarr.

Ann-Marie Said opened the score for the winners sliding the ball gracefully behind Ebejer in the Mgarr goal in the first half.

Mgarr captain Brenda Borg tried to get things going for her side, but Birkirkara scored twice in three minutes through Raina Giusti and Loza Abera's first to make sure of the proceedings.

Abera again put her name on the scoresheet with a personal effort before pounding in a long-range shot to seal her own hat-trick and a convincing trophy triumph for her side.
