Two men attempted to harm themselves while they were in police custody, the police said.

The separate incidents took place at 1.45pm and 6.45pm, and involved a 30-year-old Egyptian man and a 26-year-old Palestinian man.

The police said that officers intervened immediately and neither of the two suffered any injuries.

However, they were both taken to the Floriana health clinic to be seen by a doctor.
