A man was seriously injured when he was hit by a car which kept on going, the police said.

The accident took place at 12.45am Saturday in Hal Far Road, limits of Birzebbuga.

The man, aged 38 and resident in Victoria, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The police had been informed by a telephone call that the man had been lying on the road and needed assistance. He was given first aid by another passer-by before he was taken to hospital.
