Students, who will be sitting for their O-levels exams this September, in both Paper A and Paper B, can apply for free SEC Revision Classes.

The SEC revision classes were launched by the Ministry for Education and Employment along with the Parliamentary Secretariat for European Funds, which was an initiative under the Youth Guarantee Project, financed with European funds for the seventh consecutive year.

The classes will start on the 27 July and run up until end of August and  for five weeks in centres in Rabat (Gozo), Mosta, Pembroke, Kirkop and Paola. Students between the ages of 15 and 24, who will undergo exams in the below subjects, in both Paper A and Paper B, are eligible to apply for these classes.

The subjects being offered are Biology, English, Maltese, Mathematics and Physics. Students can choose to take classes in a maximum of three subjects.

Since 2014, SEC revision classes have assisted over 4,000 students and have yielded favourable results year after year. The European Social Funds 2014-2020 provided for the continuation of the Youth Guarantee- Youth Guarantee 2.0, which has €1 million allocated to it for further investment in the human capital to provide more opportunities whilst promoting social wellbeing.

Education Minister Owen Bonnici made reference to the results of the SEC assessments which students received on Tuesday.

He congratulated all those students who did well, but also encouraged those who did not get the results they expected, encouraging them to keep trying. “Applications for free revision classes are now open, in preparation for SEC examinations which will take place in September. Lessons will start at the end of July; take place in the morning and in schools across the country.”

Parliamentary Secretary Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi said that such classes are important for students. He stated that for the first time, such classes will be open for students who wish to apply for Paper A, as in previous years, students applying for Paper B were only eligible.

“There is further investment in our youth, who are both the present and future of our society, so as to strengthen the work force and economy, and ensure they have a better life.”

Students can apply online by visiting education.gov.mt/revision.

Applications close on Monday 20th July 2020 at 10am.
