A woman who was wanted in Slovakia was arrested in Malta, the police said on Sunday evening.

The woman, aged 49, was wanted for alleged financial and economic crimes.

Weekes of investigation led the police to establish that the woman was working in Malta.

Police from the Central Intelligence and Analysis Unit monitored her movements until her arrest on Sunday in Mellieha, where she was residing.

A European Arrest Warrant had been issued in her regard.

The woman will be taken to court where extradition proceedings will be initiated.
