A 47-year-old woman was grievously injured on Tuesday afternoon when she was the victim of a hit-and-run in Gzira, police said.

Police said that they were informed of the need for their assistance at around 1:15pm on Tuesday in Triq Rue D’Argens in Gzira.

There, district police found that the woman had been hit and dragged along the road by a vehicle which then kept on going.

The woman was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where she was certified as suffering from serious injuries.

Duty Magistrate Audrey Demicoli is leading an inquiry, while police investigations are also ongoing.
