Hamrun registered another important win after defeating Sirens by a solitary goal scored eleven minutes from the end of the match.

Leaders Ħamrun Spartans went into this match following a win over Mosta whereas Sirens returned to winning ways beating basement side Senglea by a solitary goal. For them this was Giovanni’s Tedesco first win since taking over in December.

Following their dismissal against Senglea, Sirens were missing Manuel Angel Bustos and Ryan Scicluna through suspension. But the first half was practically dominated by the St. Paul’s Bay outfit who ventured forward and threatened Bartolo on more than one occassion.

Following a slow start to the match on 20 minutes it was Hamrun who went near when a cross  shot by Joseph Mbong was partially saved by Cassar with the Sirens defence finally clearing the danger away into a corner.

Sirens responded seven minutes from the break when Wellington de Oliveira tested goalkeeper Bartolo with a close range shot with the Hamrun Spartans custodian turning the ball onto a corner. And from the resultant corner taken by Thiago Espindola the ball helped by the wind was punched away by Bartolo.

Nearing the end of the first half a Tamsir Jammeh shot brought the best out of Bartolo.

The first part of the second half kept the same pattern of the first forty five minutes. But on the  hour Hamrun tried their luck with a shot by Ailton Soares which sailed over the bar. And just four minutes later Adeshina sent his header wide.

Now it was all Hamrun and in the 66th minutes a Guillaumier shot found Cassar on the alert. The same goalkeeper produced a wonderful save in the 72nd minute when he palmed into a corner a shot from just outside the area by Marcelina.

The all important goal was scored in the 79th minute. Off an Ailton Soares corner, a perfect header by Predrag Djordjevic left Cassar stranded.

Till the end Hamrun controlled well to gain another win which consolidates their place at the summit of the Premier League.
