Balzan registered an important win and gained three precious points coming from a goal down to turn the score in their favour. It was a deserved win for Balzan who had Duric and Andrejic combining well in an offensive set up which reaped the desired friut.

Balzan started this match in thirteenth place, in dire need of points to get out of the red zone. Together with Santa Lucia they are the most team that were held to a draw, a total of seven matches. After returning to winnings ways against Sirens after nearly three months, Balzan lost their last match when they were beaten by Valletta.

On the other hand Mosta have performed wonders this season and prior to this match they held the sixth position in the standings, losing just four matches. Two of these defeats were inflicted on them in their last two outings against Hamrun Spartans and Birkirkara respectively.

The first round match between the two sides ended in a 3-3 draw with Mosta saving the match in dramatic style after coming back from three goals down.

On 10 minutes Balzan threatened when off a Duric corner from the right side a Loof header found Weverton Gomes but his shot was blocked by an alert Mafoumba.

Mosta responded in the 22nd minute through a long range shot by Bojan Kaljevic whose shot was saved by Vranes. But a minute later Mosta took the lead. A perfect pass by Brincat found Christ Ememe with this shot from inside the area beating the Balzan goalkeeper.

Balzan could have doubled their lead when on 27 minutes Brincat found once again Ememe only for his rising shot to miss the target by a few inches.

Ten minutes from the end of the first half Tulimieri passed towards Johann Bezzin but the latters shot ended wide. Balzan drew level in the 40th minute when off a Duric corner in came Aleksa Andrejic who headed past a helpless Mafoumbi.

And in first half stoppage time Balzan forged ahead. A good run by Andrejic ended with his low cross being half cleared by Bonnici with Milan Duric being on hand to tap in.

Nine minutes into the second half and Balzan increased their lead.  Milan Duric played the ball inside the area finding Aleksa Andrejic who fired a diagonal shot past a stretching Mafoumbi and into the corner of the net.

Balzan kept dominating the proceedings and it was no surprise when twenty minutes from the end they scored their fourth. Farrugia challenged Dimic in the area and from the resultant penalty Milan Duric converted in style.

Mosta were denied another goal on 77 minutes when off an Ememe cross from the right flank a headed effort by Kaljevic was saved by Vranes.
