ALS activist and sufferer Bjorn Formosa has launched a fundraising telethon as a final push for a bigger Dar Bjorn.
“Can you believe that we are on verge of opening the second home for neurological patients in six years?”, a statement announcing the telethon read.
“Bjorn, Maria and all the volunteers of ALS Malta are working tirelessly to open this long-awaited home. A home for ALS patients that will be situated in Żebbuġ. Works are still on-going and money needs to be collected to furnish this home.”
This home will offer the best care for ALS sufferers and live an independent life as much as possible. This home will have an indoor pool that will serve as a therapy for the residents, a chapel for religious functions and mini-gym that will serve as an exercise therapy for residents. This home will facilitate the life of many ALS and other neuro degenerative patients.
The last telethon dedicated to the opening of this Nursing Home will be held on Sunday, 26th of September titled ‘926tofinish’. Where 9 represents the month of the event and 26 is the date. Also the name symbolises a near figure of how much money is needed to accomplish the Newer & Bigger DAR Bjorn.
Thi project will cost around €5.5m and so far 85% of the funds were collected through telethons, small activities and selling of goods and products from www.maltaoutlet.com
The never-ending list of patients awaiting eagerly for the launch of this new home is getting bigger. ALS Malta is devoted to help all patients that require help with palliative care, electronic devices and other devices that will ease the life of the concerned patient. Currently ALS Malta is helping more than 200 patients across Malta and Gozo.
Every drop counts so Bjorn’s current wish will come true and more patients will have a dedicated special home.
