Malta should invest in an international intermodal hub in mercantile logistics, Opposition Leader Bernard Grech said on Thursday.

He was speaking during a visit to the Valletta Cruise Port.

Grech said such a project would help Malta strengthen its maritime sector’s potential.

The PN, he said, always placed great importance in this sector and had placed it on the international map.

Grech said that, despite the successes registered by the sector, there is still room for potential, including investment in marine biotechnology, aquaculture, ship logistics, and the repair and retrofitting of LNG shop engines.

Despite the damage the country’s reputation suffered, the maritime sector kept going strong, he said, thus we need to continue investing in this field.

Grech was accompanied by deputy leader Robert Arrigo, transport and infrastructure spokesman Toni Bezzina and election candidates Ian Vassallo Hagi, Janice Chetcuti and James Aaron Ellul.
