A 46-year-old man has been arrested by the police in connection with a cocaine find.

The police said on Sunday that the man, who is a resident in Valletta was stopped by members of the Drug Squad in Triq Victor Denaro, Msida.

As soon as the man noticed the presence of the police, he tried to escape and threw away a suspicious package. From preliminary analysis, the package was found to contain around 700 grams of what they suspect is cocaine.

Around €13,000 in cash was also found on the man and further searches at his residence led to the finding of another €14,000.

An inquiry is being held and the main is being kept at the police lock-up in Floriana. He is expected to be charged in court on Sunday at 11:30am.

Police investigations are ongoing.
