A motorcyclist was grievously injured in a traffic accident in Zurrieq on Friday evening, the police said.

The accident took place in Valletta Road at 8.30pm.

The biker, a 24-year-old man of Ghaxaq, was riding a Yamaha which was involved in a collision with an Opel Astra, driven by a 27-year-old man of Gudja.

The biker was given first assistance by a medical team and members of the Civil Protection Department before being taken to hospital for treatment.
