Italian cinema star Monica Vitti has died, Italian media report.
She was 90 years old.
She had last made a public appearance in 2011, when she received an award from the Italian government for her lifelong services to the cinema industry.
The actress was suffering from a degenerative disease similar to Alzheimer’s, Italian media report.
Her career spanned decades, and she acted alongside other Italian greats such as Alberto Sordi, Giancarlo Giannini and Nino Manfredi.
