The Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) has been informed that measures were immediately taken to tackle an assault by a student in a Naxxar school.

The Times of Malta had reported that the education authorities are investigating an incident at the Naxxar Middle School, involving an assault on a student and three teachers by a 12-year-old student. It quoted sources as saying that the 12-year-old assaulted another student, and then directed his violent behaviour at three teachers who broke up the incident.

The MUT said that it is following the students' aggression story, which was reported in the news this morning and which occurred some days ago at the Naxxar Middle School, and is in contact with educators, school management and the Ministry.

"Whilst the union is informed that measures were taken immediately to address the situation, and these included support and disciplinary actions, the union requested the Ministry to support the school and all other educators in schools in tackling students' misbehaviour and aggressive behaviour. The union condemns all aggressions and shall continue to assist educators."
