A biker suffered serious injuries when the bike he was riding hit a pavement and crashed in Burmarrad early on Thursday.

The accident happened at 1am in Burmarrad Road, St Paul’s Bay.

The biker, a 43-year-old man from Rabat, was riding a Yamaha XVS1100A in the direction of Mosta.

He was given first assistance by police and other drivers before being taken to hospital.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia is leading an inquiry.
