The victim of a fatal traffic crash in the early hours of the morning has been identified as Turkish woman Pelin Kaya.
Kaya was killed when a BMW allegedly driven by 33-year-old Franco-Maltese national Jeremie Camilleri hit her and ploughed into a catering establishment in the early hours of this morning.
Kaya was hit by the car, and died in hospital sometime after the accident.
Today was Kaya’s birthday.
Video footage shows that the driver went out of the BMW involved in the accident and walked unscathed to the other side of the road.
The accident happened near a petrol station on Testaferrata Street, at 1am.
Camilleri, who was born in the French city of Toulouse but now lives in Lija, had been placed on probation after admitting to two petty thefts in which health supplements worth a total of €92 were stolen from Attard and Sliema on 2 January, 2023.
Police had to use a taser in order to subdue him and arrest him.
