Senglea and Tarxien dominated a half-a-piece to gain a draw and keep in the hunt for the promotion race. Senglea were the better team in the first half, with Tarxien coming back strongly in the second period to get a deserved equaliser. Senglea were reduced to ten men in the last15minutes but Tarxien failed to capitalise.

However it must be said that the result was a fair one with Senglea keeping their unbeaten record, being the only unbeaten side in this division.

Senglea could not have dreamt of a better start as they forged ahead after only 60 seconds play. Timothy Thomas beat the offside trap to beat Curmi and put Senglea ahead.

Tarxien's defence looked anything but solid as the Senglea strikers especially Chima Dozie and Timothy Thomas penetrated with relative ease.

Two minutes after taking the lead, Senglea could have added a second one when Jeremy Gatt's cross found Timothy Thomas completely unmarked but the striker's lob went slightly over the bar.

Senglea continued to impress and Chima Dozie was denied by Curmi who brilliantly saved the Nigerian's dipper from an acute angle. On 29 minutes Senglea were very unlucky when a David Gauci free-kick slammed against the upright with Curmi completely beaten. Minutes later Dozie had another brilliant run on the right but his shot on the run was again blocked by Curmi.

In the dying minutes Tarxien tried to rally back but they lacked ideas and their crosses from the flanks were easy prey for Senglea goalkeeper George Attard.

The second half was a completely different story with Tarxien taking their opponents by storm with substitute Omar Grech immediately effective as he obtained the equaliser on 54 minutes when he first-timed beautifully into the net a Micallef good pass.

The same Grech went close again minutes later with his shot going inches wide. Senglea faled to re-produce their first half showing as Tarxien dominated completely the second part of the match. On 70 minutes Tarxien went close again with an Okoro close range header being blocked on the goal line by Clint Caruana.

Fifteen minutes from time Senglea were reduced to ten men when Timothy Thomas was sent off for dissent by referee Esther Farrugia. Tarxien tried to take full advantage of their numerical superiority and a Micallef deflected shot almost deceived Attard in the Senglea goal.

In a rare counter break Clint Caruana hesitated in front of goal after a good run by Chima Dozie.

On the other end a Paul Camilleri shot slightly missed the target. The last attempt at goal came from Senglea's Darren Grech whose scorcher was brilliantly saved by Anthony Curmi.
