Only half of the money collected by the Eden Foundation will actually go to help it continue to offer its services, said foundation president Josie Muscat.

The sum collected during the EdenFest held on 24 September amounted to Lm110,000, but Lm55,011 of it will be used to cover the expenses incurred in organising the event.

Airtime and the production of the TV programme cost Lm10,477, setting up the temporary studio cost Lm10,181, PR and advertising cost Lm20,331 and prizes, including cars, cost Lm15,000.

Dr Muscat said that the Lm55,011 that remains is a “generous and useful sum” but one must “keep in mind that still we have to continue to work very hard to continue to raise the necessary remaining funds”.

He pointed out that the Eden Foundation’s annual budget amounts to Lm800,000, of which Lm500,000 has to be raised through fund-raising events and donations.

Dr Muscat thanked “all the people of Malta and Gozo for their generosity”.
