Making Malta greener
Corinthia Hotels Inter-

national (CHI) are joining the Rural Affairs and the Environment Ministry to help make Malta greener, by introducing the concept of carbon neutral conferencing through the tree planting initiative, 34U.

CHI will be encouraging conference groups visiting Malta to cut carbon dioxide emissions, which help produce the greenhouse effect. It is calculated that each occupied room during a conference produces 12 kg of carbon dioxide every day.

To counter this, CHI will be planting six trees for every conference group it hosts, and it will be urging the group organisers to do the same. CHI will also be organising tree planting ceremonies at one of the afforestation zones – the Ta’ Qali national park, Mellieha, Salina or Xrobb l-Ghagin.

Additional information on the 34U campaign is available on the ministry’s website at www.environment.gov.mt
