Air Malta supports local artistes
Back in June 2006 UK professional vocal coach Miss Heather Baker was invited to Malta to coach eight local artistes using the legendary speech level singing (SLS) technique, which proved very successful indeed for many local artistes attending.

The technique, used also by artistes such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, Josh Groban and many others, is part of the Mediterranean Vocal Studio (MVS), Malta’s operation and support of local artistes. Word soon spread and the technique attracted a number of established local artistes such as Ira Losco, Baresine, Nikki Vukovic and many others. Over 30 artistes now attend MVS Malta.

After some brainstorming at the Studio recently, an SLS artist showcase was planned. It will be held on 23 October. Among those attending will be Sir Harry Cowell and Ms Lou Mullen from UK music label P n C Music, which will be selecting one local artist from MVS Malta to travel to their London studios and record an original song written by the music label’s top songwriter. During the same period of the showcase, MVS Malta will be holding a seminar / discussion open to all artistes, and conducted by Sir Harry, Ms Mullen and Ms Baker with the theme Artist Discovery and Development – Present and Future.
