The Maltese Diabetes Association recently participated in the Annual General Assembly of the International Diabetes Federation – European Region held in Dublin. This was preceded by the Together we are a stronger meeting which focused on Children with Diabetes and the UN Declaration on Diabetes.

The UN Resolution on diabetes was endorsed in December 2006 by the United Nations General Assembly and has designated the 14 November as the UN World Diabetes Day.

The meeting was addressed by several international speakers who spoke on a diversity of topics: Type 1 Diabetes, Access to Insulin, and Diabetes and Migration.

The meeting also coincided with the festivities of the Diabetes Federation of Ireland who celebrated their 40th anniversary.

The delegates who represented the Maltese Diabetes Association at this annual meeting were Christopher Barbara and Moira Grixti, Secretary and Education Officer respectively.
