Table-Tennis - Malta team beats Uganda
Malta’s team registered another win in the world championships being staged in Guangzhou, China.

Yesterday the matches for the placings got under way and Malta faced Uganda in the matches to decide places 89-104. The Maltese proved to be superior as they crushed the Ugandans 3-0.

In the next round, for a placing between 89 and 96, they will be meeting Kyrgyzstan who defeat Iceland 3-2. The winners of the tie will move on to play for a place between 89th and 92nd.

Earlier Malta had finished fourth in Group N of the qualifying round of the fourth division.

It had started with a victory over Sierra Leone, but then lost three matches ion succession ?against Qatar, Jamaica and Montenegro, before eventually beating Maldives in their last qualifier.

Qatar won the group on maximum points ?10 ?having won all their five matches. Jamaica followed on nine points, Montenegro eight, Malta seven, Sierra Leone six and Maldives five.
