A 20-year-old man was remanded in custody yesterday after pleading not guilty to trafficking in heroin on and before Sunday.
Dustin Caruana, from Tarxien, was charged with trafficking in heroin and possessing the drug in circumstances denoting that it was not for his own consumption.
The court, presided over by magistrate Miriam Hayman, heard how the man was found in possession of approximately five grammes of heroin.
Caruana was arrested in Cospicua on Saturday along with a 16-year-old girl from Senglea. His request for bail was turned down by the court.
Police Inspector Jesmond Borg prosecuted while Dr David Gatt represented the accused.
