Next Saturday, 15 August we celebrate the feast of the Assumption. The feast, which is a public holiday in Malta, is celebrated with great solemnity in all the local churches, especially in the seven localities known as the Seba’ Santa Marijiet. The Assumption is celebrated not only in Malta but in many other countries around the world. Read more about this religious feast and the Konvoj ta’ Santa Marija in our article, The Feast of the Assumption.
It was only by accident that fireworks were discovered. It is said that a Chinese cook accidentally mixed three common kitchen ingredients: Potassium nitrate or salt petre, sulphur and charcoal and lighted it. The result was the beginning of the colourful fireworks that we see today during many celebrations that are held all over the world. If not handled properly, fireworks can be dangerous. Fireworks can cause burn and eye injuries in children and also adults and you have to be very cautious when attending fireworks displays. Follow the safety tips that we have prepared for you to avoid serious injuries.
Enjoy your holiday and see you next Thursday
