
An Egyptian man was yesterday summoned to court, charged with theft of cable TV service, which he allegedly did by using a splitter to share out the service in eight rooms in a residence for the elderly, Robinich Ville in Triq il-Kuluvert, Fgura. Ebrahem El Asrag, 55, of Birzebbugia, was accused of tampering with the Melita plc cable TV equipment at the residence and illegally installing other equipment to a telecommunications system with the intention of making money. He was charged with installing the equipment and selling the service without observing the Electronic Communications Act, and with using the Melita network and communications equipment without observing the instructions issued by the company.
He was also charged with relapsing. Lawyers José Herrera and Veronique Dalli appeared for the accused.
