E.V. Borg is giving a public lecture for Din l-Art Helwa dealing with the Polypthic of St Paul at the Mdina Cathedral Museum.
Painted by the Circle of Luis Borassa during the 15th Century, the Polypthic is remarkable for its fantasy of composition, its lively colours and the techniques used. It consists of a central panel surrounded by 10 smaller ones with numerous figures of people that give insight to the apparel worn during the time the painting was executed.
Mr Borg is an art critic specialising in Maltese contemporary art and has authored monographs and critical art literature for the media, writing for both local and foreign magazines and periodicals.
The lecture, which starts at 6pm this evening, will be given at the Judge Caruana Curran Hall at 133, Melita Street, Valletta, offices of Din l-Art Helwa. Admission is free but donations to Din l-Art Helwa’s restoration projects would be greatly appreciated.
