Pembroke A-Fgura U 1-1
Pembroke dictated the run of play throughout the first period and after just four minutes they were close through Jamie Portelli.
Five minutes later Fgura’s defender Vince Testaferrata almost committed an own-goal off a Jeffrey Fenech crosshot but Pembroke managed to break the deadlock on 17 minutes through a Matthew Coleiro direct free-kick.
In the 28th minute Coleiro went past through various Fgura defenders with his final shot being blocked by Jesmond Lia. Fgura’s reaction produced a shot by Rodney Galea which just missed the target and five minutes before the break they wasted a glaring opportunity through Matthew Spiteri.
Fgura sustained their reaction in the initial stages of the second half and deservedly drew level on 56 minutes through an angled shot by Rodney Galea.
Athleta were then denied by Jesmond Lia off attempts by Matthew Coleiro and Jeffrey Fenech with Fgura coming back through Christian Bordieri whose first-time shot finished just wide.
This was Fgura’s first point of the season.

Marsa-Ghaxaq 1-0
Ghaxaq held the initiative for long stretches during the first half and early on the Marsa goalkeeper Demis Grima brought off a difficult save to deny Johan Zammit.
In the 22nd minute Ghaxaq had another opportunity with Louis Falzon doing all the work which was concluded by Christian Cristiano shooting just wide.
Then a headed attempt by Wayne Hamer was saved by Grima and on the half hour Ghaxaq were also unlucky when an attempt by Albert Caruana hit the upright.
In the 39th minute Ghaxaq gained a penalty for a foul on Louis Falzon but Johan Zammit’s shot from the spot was saved by the Marsa keeper Demis Grima.
During the second period Marsa shared the exchanges but it was Ghaxaq who created the first opportunity through Wayne Hamer and Louis Falzon.
In the 64th minute Marsa had a shot by Cameron Guzman which was saved by Jonathan Agius and four minutes later an insidious George Cutajar free-kick just missed the target.
In the 79th minute Marsa scored the winning goal through a close-range header by Philip Chircop.
Ghaxaq ended up with 10 players four minutes from time as Johan Zammit was sent off for unwarranted comments made to one of the assistant referees.
The match unfortunately ended with scuffles between a number of players from both sides but calm was restored quickly.
