An 18-year-old was seriously injured when his Volkswagen Polo crashed into a tree in Valletta Road, Mqabba on Friday night.

The incident took place at 2.20am when the man, from Santa Lucia, was driving in the direction of Kirkop.

Members of the Civil Protection Department and a medical team from Mater Dei Hospital were immediately called to the scene. The man was rushed to hospital and found to be suffering from serious injuries. His condition is not critical.

Further police investigations are underway.
