The Malta Tourism Authority is continuously searching for innovative, up to date and far-reaching ways to promote Malta. As a result of this, an initiative by the MTA's UK office, the MTA History & Culture Segment and the MTA Film Unit has led to the launch of 2 podcasts.
The branded podcasts are namely ‘The Malta UNESCO World Heritage Trail’ and ‘The Malta Movie Locations’. The uploaded information provides a trail around the Maltese Islands from two key perspectives: historic al and cultural, and film setting locations. ‘The UNESCO World Heritage Trail’ podcasts focus on Valletta and on Malta's main archaeological sites including the Hypogeum and Ggantija, as well as giving a historic background to the Islands; ‘The Malta Movie Locations’ podcasts focus on those places which have been popular in film production, such as Valletta, Mdina and Rabat, and Gozo.
In view of the information uploaded, the podcasts can serve a myriad of purposes, such as a PR item and a give-away at fairs, conventions, and conferences; an informative and handy quick guide to Malta pre- and post- arrival; a source of specific information for journalists and as a working tool for MTA staff presenting Malta to the trade.
The podcasts will also be available shortly on iTunes and YouTube, thus increasing Malta's visibility and reaching out to a new audience who may not necessarily be targeted by the more traditional advertising channels.
Niche market travel providers are being encouraged to link their sites to these podcasts through the MTA. The podcasts may be accessed via the MTA homepage www.visitmalta.com or directly by going onto www.visitmalta.com/podcasts.
