Football – Bank of Valletta Premier League: Qormi expected to extend lead today
Premier League leaders Qormi are expected to extend their lead at the top of the standings this evening as they meet bottom placed Dingli Swallows in the opening match of the eight round.

The match is being played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, starting at 7.30pm.

Although one can never take things for granted, it is very evident that Qormi will start this evening's clash as firm favourites to bag another three points which will see them moving five points ahead of second placed Valletta.

It is a very pleasant surprise to see this Qormi team at the top of Maltese football after so many years in the wilderness.

Jesmond Zerafa and his boys are well worth their top place after the opening seven rounds and they seem to be well geared to remain occupying that place for a number of weeks, at least.

Their opponents today, Dingli, are finding the going tough in their first experience of Premier League football. Results are not coming their way even if they offer stiff opposition to any opponent.

This evening, they will have to be at their very best if they wish to emerge with something positive against the Yellow Blacks.
