The second from the series of Cultural Tours organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts will be on Sunday 6 December 2009. During this tour all participants will have the opportunity, together with the help of professional guides, to explore the Church of the cloistered nuns dedicated to Saint Margaret, also the cloister and crypt of the order of the Discalced Carmelites at the Church dedicated to Saint Theresa. Another very interesting stop will be Bir Mula Heritage. The tour will also visit the church of Saint John the merciful in Ta’ Ghuxa. This tour will precede the feast of the Immaculate Conception in Cospicua by two days. This will afford visiting groups to see first hand the feast enthusiasts’ work, who are known for their decorations, dedication and devotion towards Our Lady. On this Sunday the tour will also call at the private residence of Simon Mercieca to view a large scale model of the titular church done up in full feast regalia. This church model is designed in the shape of the Latin cross, with naves, troll ceiling , and comprises both a sacristy and an oratory. As happens in real life many artists, amongst whom Renzo Gauci, the late Noel Cauchi, and Josef Camilleri contributed towards the creation of this church model.
These much awaited monthly Cultural Tours are organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts. The organisers extend their gratitude to the Malta Union of Tourist Guides for their support.
