A 73-year old Hamrun man died yesterday after being hit by a car on the Valletta-bound lane of the Rabat road, past the chapel near Ta’ Qali. The accident happened at about 10.50am.

The police said the man was hit by a Fiat Punto being driven towards Attard by a young man from Rabat. A medical team from Mater Dei was called but later, the police said, they were informed that the injured man had died.

Duty magistrate Tonio Micallef Trigona is conducting an inquiry.
