As part of its active participation towards the development of managers and leaders in Malta, the Malta Institute of Management (MIM) has announced the publishing of the second book on tax related matters, Principles of Maltese VAT Law authored and edited by Dr Robert Attard and with the contribution of other leading specilaists in the field.
The need of a book on principles of Maltese VAT has been strongly felt in Malta particularly by practitioners in the industry and in services.
The book will also serve as a fundamental reference and text book for students studying value added taxation and related topics. The Principles of Maltese VAT Law will also specifically serve as the official text book for students pursing the Diploma in VAT Compliance Progamme organised and accredited by MIM and the Institute of Indirect Taxation (IIT-UK).
Prof. Dr. Pasquale Pistone who has written the book’s foreword described Dr Robert Attard as ‘an international tax scholar, well known for his expertise in the judicial dimension of taxation and the protection of taxpayers’ rights’ and stated that this book ‘will open up a new dimension in the interpretation and application of VAT in Malta some 15 years after its introduction and five after this country joined the European Union.’
Indeed, the analysis of the VAT case law by the European Court of Justice combined with the rules that implement the EU VAT system into Maltese tax law will certainly give Maltese users a better understanding of how this system is applied.
‘Principles of Maltese VAT Law’ is very accessible to students, practitioners and other interested readers in this subject.
