Law graduates were the protagonists of the last of this year’s graduation ceremonies, which also happened to take place on the eve of Republic Day. Marking the occasion, new Gozitan notary public Joseph Attard paid tribute to two Gozitan former presidents – lawyer and poet Anton Buttigieg and medical doctor Censu Tabone. Mr Attard also paid tribute to all the Maltese and Gozitans who had contributed to Maltese society over the centuries and said: “We must never forget where we come from. We must remember that our country has no natural resources, so the human resource is our only means of moving forward, and the university is the main place where this resource is cultivated”. He told his fellow graduates to look to a prosperous future. “Let us use what we have learnt and show everyone that we, the law graduates, are the leaders in every sector of civil society, be it commerce, investment, justice or politics. We are at the forefront of this country,” Mr Attard said.
