Maltese tourism and culture will be promoted throughout World Bikini Model International and Miss European Tourism Beauty 2009 beauty pageants, which will be held in Malta on 24 June by Catwalk Productions International.

Both events are expected to attract foreign journalists and media agencies, which will feature the events as well as Malta and Maltese tourism on their respective media.

Events director Paul Chetcuti said that media agencies from Turkey, Germany and Russia have expressed their interest in covering the event. The event is fully supported by the Malta Tourism Authority and the Ministry for Tourism.

The only major difficulty that the organisers encountered was the issuing of visa for some of the foreign models taking part or journalists coming from the Philippines, Turkey and China.

Catwalk Productions International strives to portray Malta as a holiday destination not only for its sun and sea, but also for its history, culture and also entertainment. The contestants of the beauty pageants will discuss the main subjects in different Maltese attractions and settings. Over the years over 106 TV stations, newspapers and magazines were brought over from overseas to cover both events. Both the World Bikini Model International and Miss European Tourism are a Maltese production which have become an annual event in Malta’s calendar and worldwide.

The pageants are going to be held at Dragonara Casino in St Julian’s. A full week of activities is prepared for the contestants between 19 and 25 June. More than 45 participants from 38 different countries are participating.

Attraction for this year’s final night will be the launch of She2’s girl band album Bubblegum and foreign fashion designers guest appearances such as Amalia fashion studios and Erken Eken from Turkey and Catalin Botezatu from Romania.
