Football: New Facilities for Floriana FC

Premier League club Floriana FC have announced a number of projects to be taken in hand soon, especially at their training ground at the Independence Arena.

Sports Parliamentary Secretary Clyde Puli recently visited the Floriana FC facilities and he was informed of the projects which the club is embarking upon, among them the construction of new dressing rooms.

Puli also visited the house in Granaries Square which the club will soon have as its new headquarters. It is currently being converted into a club and administrative quarters and will be opened to the public when maintenance work now at hand is completed.

At this club, the Greens intend to have a museum on the glorious history of the club and Maltese football and a trophy hall with all the honours won by the Greens throughout the years.

Floriana FC has obtained funds from the MFA and has been granted the go-ahead to start work on new facilities at the Independence Arena.

Puli was also told that the government funds provided for the club are spent on maintenance of the turf at the main football pitch. Among those who use the Floriana FC facilities is the club’s nursery.

On his part, Puli said government had helped local football clubs and other sporting societies throughout the past years. He said the government is conscious of the fact that existent facilities need to be upgraded from time to time.
