The city of Vittoriosa, Birgu in Maltese, is hosting Prince William for what should be his last assignment of a 24-hour whirlwind trip to Malta as part of celebrations for the country’s 50 years of Independence.

Prince William arrived in Vittoriosa accompanied by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.

He has met boys scouts and has approached members of the public waiting for him behind the barricades, shaking hands and exchanging a few pleasantries.

The Prince also visited the church of St Lawrence.

Before going to Vittoriosa, Prince Williams visited the Access premises where he played table-soccer and Playstation with young people and discussed problems affecting young people with officials of Appogg, which runs the centre.

In Vittoriosa, the Prince visited the St Lawrence church before embarking on a tour of Grand Harbour on board a boat. There is a high level of security in the port and small boats which made an attempt to approach the Royal boat were kept at a distance by the Armed Forces of Malta.

All the owners of the boats could do was honk their horns to which Prince William replied by waving.
